Ethel Mae Grabast
June 17th, 2015 - June 17th, 2015
Ethel M. Grabast passed away on June 17, 2015. She was born in Norton, Kansas to Ben and Grace Morse, where she grew up on a farm with her older sister, Irene. Ethel met her husband, David, in high school. The two were married on August 30, 1941. After the start of World War II, David enlisted in the army and spent three and a half years in Europe. While he was stationed overseas, Ethel worked at Norton Hospital. Upon his return, David worked for Foster Lumber Company, and the couple lived in several small towns in Southwestern Nebraska and Northwestern Kansas where Ethel worked as a cosmetologist in beauty shops before moving to Colorado in 1947 where they welcomed their daughter, Susan, and son, Dave. After their move to Colorado, Ethel worked for the Girl Scouts of America. In 1967, the family moved to Beaverton, OR where David began his career with the US Postal Service, and Ethel attended college at Portland State University. Upon completion of her degree, Ethel began a career as an enrolled agent/tax consultant. Ethel enjoyed working with her clients and continued her business for almost forty years preparing taxes. Ethel and David enjoyed spending time with family and friends and were happily married for 71 years until his passing in 2012. Ethel enjoyed her recent years at Creekside Village where she spent time with friends playing bingo, bridge, participating in exercise class, and sharing jokes. Ethel was preceded in death by her sister, Irene, and by her husband, David. She is survived by daughter Susan (Denny) Lambert, and son Dave (Maureen) Grabast, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends whom she loved and who loved her very much. The family will cherish the many memories they made together. Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 on July 11th at Creekside Village in Beaverton. Remembrances may be made to the Beaverton First United Methodist Church or charity of your choice.
