Ethel Tschida

Ethel (Aphrodite) Tschida "Yiayia", 89, went peacefully to be with her Lord on May 5, 2016 in Yakima surrounded by her children. She was born at home on January 14, 1927 in Tacoma to George and Vasilo Turlis. She was passionate about life and received much joy from her love of family and friends. She treasured every moment with the littlest members of her family who fondly called her "Yiayia." She was married to the love of her life, Joe, for 48 years until his death in 1996. She is survived by her 4 children, Stephanie Tschida (Tom Carns), Joe Tschida (Joanne Onorato), Gloria Wright (Steven), and Georgann Howie (Doug), 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, and brother Chris Turlis (Donna). The Trisagion is Tuesday, May 10 at 6pm and the funeral will be Wednesday, May 11 at 11am, both at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Tacoma. Burial is at New Tacoma Cemetery at 3pm.
