Eugene "Pat" Harney

Eugene (Pat) Harney was born in Stockton, CA on March 18, 1939. In 1944, he moved to the Monterey Peninsula which he would call home for the rest of his life. Pat was a proud Padre of Carmel High School where he excelled at football and met his wife-to-be Lou Ann before graduating in the class of '58. Shortly after, he and his sweetheart Lou Ann married and began raising a family in Carmel as Pat started his career as a union cabinet maker - carpenter in Monterey. After 40+ years of work he retired to enjoy as much time as possible pursuing his hobbies of hunting and fishing, often with Lou Ann by his side. Pat was never short on words nor local knowledge, which lead him into countless quality friendships over the years. Later in life, he found a love for gold prospecting in the creeks and beaches of the South Coast which he pursued for as long as he physically could. When he wasn't on the water or in the mountains, he could be found at Carmel High rooting for the football team or at home woodworking, creating various works of metal art, and caring for his cats, dogs, and koi fish. Pat peacefully passed on September 11, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janice, and is survived by his wife Lou Ann, his sister Susan, his children and their spouses Mike (Denise) and Laurie (Brian), and his five grandchildren and their spouses: Todd (Kristin), Jillian (Matt), Stu, Tiffany, and Max . Memorial donations may be made to the Monterey SPCA or Stand Up To Cancer. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Service Information
