Eugene "Gene" Hilton
May 8th, 1935 - November 5th, 2014
Eugene "Gene" Hilton 79, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Saint Charles, Virginia and has lived in Kingsport the majority of his life. Gene was a very loving husband, father and "Pap". He was a graduate of Dobyns- Bennett High School in 1955 where he lettered in football and track. Gene was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with over 30 years of service. Gene was also an avid Dobyns- Bennett and UT fan. Gene was a very active member of Sunnyside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and belonged to the men's III class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Kate Hilton; sister, Doris Godsey; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jolene Campbell Hilton; children, Kim Carter and husband Mike, Jimmy Hilton and wife Hope, Regina Rock and husband Tim, Tara Blair and husband Chris, John Hilton, Amy Supino and husband Paul, Benji Willis and wife Marilyn; grandchildren, Dustin, Dallas, Brittney, Corttney, Luke, Hayden, Chandler, Lance, Keeton, Gunnar, Gabe, and Kendrick; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Presley, Pearson, Caiden, Brooklee, Brady, and Karsyn; along with extended family and many dear friends. A visitation will be held from 1 to 4 PM on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 406 Cooks Valley Road, Kingsport, TN 37664 with Dr. Roy Graves officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be The Men's III Class. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sunnyside Baptist Church Building Fund and/or Indian Springs Pantry, 406 Cooks Valley Road, Kingsport, TN 37664. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Hilton family.
