Eugene Willard Koon

Eugene Willard Koon, Jr. more commonly known to all those he knew and loved as “Buddy”, passed away Saturday night at Roper St Francis Hospital. He took his last breaths surrounded by family shortly after giving his youngest daughter, Christa Ann away to Montie Preston Agee IV in marriage, which took place at this bedside in the ICU where he was alert and able to give his blessing. In Buddy’s most valued roles in his life he was known as a husband, father, and papa to his family he leaves behind. Among them were his wife and love of his life for 40 years, Sharon Bonner Koon, son Eugene Willard Koon III (Tripp) and his wife Katie, daughter Tracy Koon Schlicksup and her husband Michael, and daughter Christa Koon Agee and her husband Preston. He was an endearing Papa to Madelyn Marie and Clifford Francis Schlicksup and Caleb James and Joshua Clayton Koon. He also leaves behind a sister Patricia Koon Allen and her husband Mac, along with two brothers, John “Bo” Koon and Charles Koon, as well as many nieces and nephews. Buddy spent most of his life as a thriving entrepreneur, rarely backing away from a challenge. He owned a Banking Consulting business, EKG of South Carolina for 25 years and was an operating partner with MedTrust Medical Transport in Charleston, SC. Buddy lived his life to the fullest, totally committed to his faith in God, family, and friends. He will be greatly missed, but has left behind a legacy to be remembered.
