Eula Mae Calhoun
October 12th, 1928 - September 15th, 2022
Eula Mae Calhoun, 93, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 6:30 PM. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. Eula was born on October 12, 1928 in the Grassy Creek Community but resided in Sullivan County most of her life. Eula accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the early age of twelve. She was well known for her fearless testimony of praise in song for her Savior. She was an avid reader of God’s Word. Eula was a faithful member of New Life Freewill Baptist Church, Kingsport, which is pastored by her son, Pastor Hal Calhoun. Eula had many talents and hobbies. She was a self-taught artist, poet, song writer, and seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cecil “Bob” Calhoun; daughter, Cathy Mae; parents, Hubert and Lula Ward; brothers, Roy and Ellis Ward; daughter-in-law, Mary Calhoun. Survivors include her sons, Pastor Gary T. Calhoun, Pastor Hal Calhoun and wife Brenda, Mike Calhoun and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Angie (Ray) Sybert, Kim (Tony) Tribbey of Florida, Sabrina Gillenwater, and Justin (Amy) Calhoun; great- grandchildren, Mariah Sybert, Alyssa Sybert, Kendra Sybert, Ryan Adkins, Logan Adkins, Rusty Gillenwater, Jake Gillenwater, Hudson Calhoun, and Emerson Calhoun; along with a host of friends and extended family. The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at New Life Freewill Baptist Church at 2444 Rock Springs Rd. Kingsport, TN 37664. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Gary Calhoun and Pastor Hal Calhoun officiating. Music will be provided by the Ladies of New Life Freewill Baptist Church. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM on Monday, September 19, 2022 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sharon Durnin, Preston Place II, and Amedysis Hospice for their excellent care and support to Eula and her family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport is serving the Calhoun family.
