Eunice Bevan

Eunice Francis Bevan was born to Albert Francis, a coal miner, and Elizabeth Harriet Francis, a preacher, on February 4, 1928 in Brynmawr, South Wales. This beautiful black haired hazel-eyed child was the fifth of six children born to four blonde haired blue-eyed siblings. Because of this, she was named the "Spanish Princess", a title she deserved. Her beauty was remarkable her entire life. The Assembly of God movement in South Wales began in her grandparent's living room and as a child, she began her immersion in her faith, which formed the foundation of her life. She married Roy Bevan at 22 years of age and they had four children. As a family, they moved to Canada, the USA, and the Middle East while she supported her husband's role as a minister and international chaplain. His success was achieved with Eunice's support, love, commitment and faithfulness. Eunice and Roy settled in Santa Cruz, California in 1997 upon retirement and she has lived there since then with her eldest daughter and her grandchildren. Eunice never failed to support her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors and was always enormously proud of their achievements. They were constantly supported and blessed in all their trials and successes through her prayers. Her "Hello my darling" will be dearly missed. She suffered through many major health problems and never complained; always cheerful, positive, and full of stories to share, especially about her life in Wales. She had grown up during the Second World War, and the same indomitable British sprit was evident in the way she dealt with her life. Eunice leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and above all grace. She had a smile for everyone. No one who met her or knew her came away untouched from a soul whose compass was her faith, whose calling was her Lord, and whose destination was to join her husband and parents in singing eternal praises to the God she trusted and believed in. Eunice was a true Welsh saint and her example inspires us all. Preceded in death by her husband Roy, she is survived by her son Stuart Bevan (Joy) of London, Canada, her daughters; Leah Belair (Stephen) of Santa Cruz, Elizabeth Bevan (Ron Rohrbach) of San Diego; her son Ian Bevan of Boulder, Colorado, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the angels who cared for Eunice during the last years of her life, Effie and Louanne. We could not have done it without you. A memorial service will be held in the recreation room of the San Lorenzo Apartments (134 Dakota Ave. Santa Cruz, CA 95060) on Wednesday, July 18, beginning at 4 p.m. Donations may be made to Hospice of Santa Cruz, whose help allowed Eunice to die surrounded by her loved ones, listening to the psalms and hymns that sustained her during her life.
