Eva JoAnn Werner
April 17th, 1938 - July 12th, 2017
Eva JoAnn Werner passed away on Wed. July 12, 2017 at Centenniel Health Care Center. Eva was born April 17, 1938 to Truman and Opal (Smith) Prather in Yuma, CO. JoAnn started 1st grade in Abbar, CO with her sister Nola. The Prather family moved to Joes, CO and then to Yuma. JoAnn graduated from Yuma High School in 1955. In 1956 JoAnn attended the Charles Denver Beauty School in Denver. During this time she met Leslie Werner. They were married Oct. 30, 1957 in Yuma. Leslie was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in California. They welcomed Nancy Jo on July 31, 1958 at Camp Pendelton. In 1959 the family moved to Wray, CO. Ruth Ann was born April 14, 1960 and Ronald Lee followed on May 3, 1961. She later opened her own in-home beauty salon. The family left Wray in Sept. 1967 and moved to Silverthorne Co. where Leslie took a job for the Colorado Department of Maintenance. JoAnn worked in the school cafeteria and in beauty salons. In June 1969 the family moved to Colorado Springs after Les completed school for the Colorado State Patrol. While in Colorado Springs, JoAnn worked in a beauty salon. In June 1970 Les was transferred to Fort Morgan, CO. JoAnn ran her own in-home beauty salon. After several years she closed the salon and worked at Fort Morgan High School and part time at other beauty salons. Upon Les’s retirement in 1990 they moved to Greeley while they waited for their new home to be completed in Kersey. JoAnn opened a beauty salon in Kersey for a time and then she went to work at a beauty salon in Greeley. Both Les and JoAnn helped with the Weld County Elections in their later years. JoAnn enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, sewing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Leslie of Kersey. Children, Nancy (Don) Marshall, Wiggins, CO, Ruth (Joseph) Zirtzman of Cashion, OK, Ronald (Laurie) of Wiggins, CO. Grandchildren, Amanda Lindsey, Jessica Trusty, Samantha Sierra, Andrew Zirtzman, Krystal Zirtzman, Stacey Werner, Allison Werner, Jamie Werner, Ben and Anna Werner, nine great - grandchildren. Siblings Raymond (Jean) Prather of Eaton, CO. Kathryn Smith of Longmont, CO. Robert (Jeanette) Prather of Peyton, CO, Melvin Prather of Berthoud, CO and Shirley Stephen of Otis, CO. Numerous nieces and nephews and Brothers-in-law, Bill and Ray Reichley of Greeley, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Opal Prather; her sisters, Nola Standen and Carol Sallee Imhoff; in-laws, Cliff Smith, Barb Prather, Bernard Imhoff, Dick Stephen; mother-in-law, Esther Reichley; grandson, Travis Werner; great-grandson, Chance Trusty. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Adamson Chapel. Funeral Service 10:00a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 also at Adamson. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Kersey Fire Station” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 8063447th
