Evan C. Gadsby
March 16th, 1955 - March 21st, 2018
Evan Gadsby passed peacefully at the age of 63 in his home on March 21, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family. Evan was born in Washington State on March 16, 1955 to parents Craig and Pearl Gadsby and raised in San Jose California. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Kirk, and is survived by his older brother George. Evan spent most of his life living in Santa Cruz California with his loving wife of over 40 years, Rochelle Gadsby. He took pride in being a local business owner and operator of APED Appliance Parts Shop since 1982. He was a gift to his community as he valued helping all who came into his shop with friendly and fair respect. Evan was a devoted father to his two children, Shannon and Kraig Gadsby. Showing up to all of life’s important moments, coaching youth league sports teams and cheering every accomplishment. He gave the perfect amount of encouragement, wisdom and support to allow his children to live and learn from their own life’s experiences. He taught his children a strong work ethic, commitment to family, love of nature and the value of living a good life. His strength as a father was only to be outdone by the immense adoration for his grandchildren Lyla Pearl Speights, Dylan Cruz Gadsby and awaited blessings. The lessons and values Evan instilled in those that loved him will never be forgotten. Evan loved living life in as many ways as possible. He enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities including camping, hiking, fishing and kayaking. He loved good music, gardening, hunting mushrooms and making moonshine. He was a sports fanatic especially dedicated to his Bay Area teams. He was a generous and selfless friend to many, always willing to go the extra mile to help out someone in need. He truly knew how to have a good time, loved playing billiards and socializing with his countless friends at JJ’s Saloon and Social Club in Soquel. Evan Gadsby had a golden heart and all who knew him were better for it. He will forever remain in our memories. A celebration of his life will be held at the Chaminade Resort on June 2nd from 11:30am until 3pm for the many that will want to gather in honor of this great man’s life. A toast will follow at JJ’s at approximately 4pm. EGads
