Evelyn Josephine Amaro August 12, 1926 August 27, 2022 Resident of Lafayette Evelyn (Arnaudo) Amaro was born on August 12, 1926. On August 27, 2022, Evelyn passed away, surrounded by her family. She was 96 years old. Evelyn was the third of five children, two brothers and two sisters. She was raised in a large, extended Italian family in California's central valley. In her teenage years, she moved to Richmond, where she met her future husband and her 'ever-loving,' Richard Amaro. The pair married and later moved to Lafayette with their three boys Mark, Richard Jr. (Dick), and Austin. In Walnut Creek, the two began their family business, General Plumbing Supply Company. An incredibly hard and dedicated worker, Evelyn worked six days a week for over 60 years until she was 92 years old at the family business. What made her successful in the business world was her dedication to excellence and ability to forge trusting and caring relationships that brought out the best in everyone. When she wasn't at the shop, she traveled the world and loved exploration. Evelyn deeply valued experiencing new cultures and perspectives so that she could experience the best the world has to offer. Whether it was sailing the seas of Alaska to Asia, to visiting extended family in Italy: to flying one of the last Concorde Jets from Europe to New York, adventure was a prime objective. She enjoyed musical theatre, especially Broadway musicals, cooking Italian cuisine, and was an avid reader of all types of biographies. She loved life and she lived it to its fullest potential, often saying 'Life is for the living' and 'Que sera, sera.' She also loved the Northern California foothills and frequently visited her sons Austin and Mark, and their families who lived in Twain Harte and Mi-Wuk Village as well. Community and Family were always top priorities. She was blessed with four children: Mark, Richard Jr., Austin, and Mary. Although Mary was taken by the Lord at birth, Evelyn cared deeply for her entire family and enjoyed giving her time and making memories with each of her children, 10 grandchildren Stephen, Lisa, Aaron, Ryan, Amber, Amy, Austin, Adam, Christopher and Shawn, and 16 great-grandchildren Ashton, Soleil, Ciel, Clementine, Penelope, Gweny, Miu, Avery, Aidan, Kayden, Walker, Ariana, Chester, Evelyn, Lindsey and Ashley. Her home in Lafayette was open to all where she hosted every holiday and shared her love with everyone who came through her doors. Her family will miss her deeply and will always be thankful for the care, time and love she gave endlessly to all. She is survived by her husband, Richard Amaro, and her three sons, Mark (Renee) Amaro, Richard Jr. (Pamela) Amaro, and Austin (Joan) Amaro. Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Steve and Dino, her sisters, Laura and Darlene, and her daughter, Mary. All the family looks forward to the day when everyone will be reunited in Paradise. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are accepted at Oakland Childrens Hospital: https://makeagift.ucsf.edu/site/SPageServer?pagename=API_RD_CHFSGivingForm&utm_source=bch&utm_medium=web&utm_content=menu_donate_link&_gl=1*bygw0r*_ga*ODkwNDMxNzkuMTY2MTk4NTQ2OQ..*_ga_W9Y3VDMFKT*MTY2MjA2MjgwOC4xLjAuMTY2MjA2MjgwOC4wLjAuMA..
