Evelyn B. Anton
December 11th, 1918 - July 18th, 2011
"Evelyn (Boron) Anton, 92, died peacefully on Monday, July 18, at home, with her family by her side. Born in South Deerfield, December 11, 1918, she was the daughter of Stanley and Louise (Wjnarowicz) Boron and has lived in Palmer since 1946. A graduate and Valedictorian of South Deerfield High School, she furthered her education in the field of nursing, graduating from Springfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. Following her marriage to Dr. Harry J. Anton in 1942, she worked as one of his nurses as well as office manager for many years. Evelyn served the community of Palmer in many capacities, including serving on the Wing Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and its Women's Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Palmer Women's Club, and a founding member of both the Palmer Golden Agers and the Palmer YMCA, having served on its board. Additionally, she served on the Palmer Planning Board, was a member of the Elbow Plantation Historical Association, was past president of the Palmer Republican Town Committee, and also was den mother to her son's Cub Scout Troop. She will be deeply missed by her 3 sons, Dr. Raymond Anton (Wendy) of Russell, along with their children Chris (Theresa) of CO, Jeff ( Emily) of Westfield, son David Anton of Palmer, and his children Andrew of Palmer, and Audrey Anton ( Stephen Kershner) of Bowling Green, KY, and Philip Anton (Elise) of Dorset, VT, and their children Doug of Enfield, NH and Ben of Dorset VT. She also leaves her 3 sisters, Victoria Jarowey of Hamden, CT, Helen Cady of Greenfield, and Patricia Zach (John) of Wilmington, VT. Besides her parents and husband, Dr. Harry J. Anton , six siblings, Mary Haigh, John Boron, Bertha Reiss, Stanley Boron, Raymond Boron, Fred Boron, and a daughter in law Mary Ellen Anton preceded her in death. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 21 at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. (Rte. 20) from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Burial will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Brookside Cemetery, South Deerfield. For those wishing, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Wing Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary, 40 Wright St, Palmer 01069. "
