Evelyn Laughlin Hilliard

Mrs. Evelyn Seawell Laughlin Hilliard age 86, affectionately known as 'GG' went to meet her Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ, from her home , Thursday March 11,2010. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday March 14, 2010 at Red Cross Baptist Church, Climax , NC with Reverend Bud Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mrs. Hilliard was born December 29, 1923 in Randolph County, NC to Cecil and Maude Medley Seawell. She began her early careeer at Cone Mills and retired from P. Lorillard after 27 years of service. She was faithful member of Red Cross Baptist Church, a devoted family woman she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, she will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husbands Carlton Worth Laughlin and C.C. Hilliard and two sisters and six brothers. Survivors include a daughter Carleen Laughlin Chesnutt and husband Jerry W. Chesnutt, Sr.; two grandchildren Cassandra (Sandy) Barker and husband Sean, Jerry Wayne Chesnutt, Jr and wife Karen; five great grandchildren; Beth-Anna Barker Smith and husband Darius, Erin Lee Barker, Emily Ann Chesnutt, Lauren Ashley Chesnutt, Mattison Grace Barker; a niece Virginia Grace (Tommie) Slate,whom she loved as her own and numerous extended loving family members.
