Evelyn Lyckman, born August 2nd, 1942 in Hartland, Maine, passed away peacefully at St. Anthony’s Adult Family Home in Fircrest, Washington on New Year’s Eve, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her husband Hal Lyckman, her three daughters, Beckie Madson and her husband Randy, Susie Haney, and Jennifer Peters and her husband Jeff, ten grandchildren, Lindsay Ronstadt (Brian), Matthew Olsen (Holly), Kristin Billiau (Rob), Samantha Eteve (Paul), Michael Olsen, Jillian Oury (Justin), Jessica Stull (Jeff), Brittany Peters (Joseph), Jasper Haney, and twelve, soon to be thirteen, great grandchildren, as well as her husband’s children and grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her grandson, Dillon Peters and former husbands Arnie Larson and Jim Downie. Evelyn was the life of the party. Known for her beautiful smile and huge personality, she loved people and will be missed dearly by many. She delighted in hosting book clubs, dinner clubs, and was always looking for a reason to have a party. Evelyn was an avid gardener and surrounded her home with flowers of all varieties. She found great joy in cooking and baking, and friends and neighbors were lucky recipients of her offerings. She loved her grandchildren like crazy and when they were young, could be found playing tea party, having garden parties, and lots of cousin sleepovers and movie nights. After staying home to raise her girls, she found joy working at Good Samaritan Hospital as a staffing coordinator. She attended St Paul Lutheran Church, then Our Savior Lutheran. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and more than anything, loved worshiping Him in song. Singing is synonymous with Grandma Lyckman—a favorite quote from her being, “Remember to sing, girls! Singing is fun!” While she is dearly missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is pain free and with Jesus, and we will see her again. A service in her memory will be held on February 10 at 11:00 at Lake City Community Church at 8810 Lawndale Avenue SW, Lakewood, WA 98498. In lieu of flowers, donations to World Vision would be appreciated.
