Evelyn Louise Major Norman, 85, of Indian Land, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021. Born Saturday, January 25, 1936, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Maude Bagwell Major. She was a graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte and went on to create a career in Telecommunications with Bellsouth, Inc. Upon retirement with Bellsouth, she held numerous part-time positions, but served mostly with Charlotte International Airport. When not working, Evelyn was a collector of umbrellas, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her loving family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her loving son, William "Barry" Norman and his wife, Missy; daughter in law, Vicki; grandchildren: Brad, C.J., Ashley, Daniel and Reid; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Joseph "Joe" Norman; and brothers: John "Stacey" Major and Edward Major. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 30 at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC. Feel free to leave the family your condolences via the Tribute Wall provided.
