Evelyn "Peg" E. Van Antwerp
June 12th, 1920 - March 25th, 2011
Evelyn E. "Peg" Van Antwerp, 90, of Hickory Hill Road, passed away peacefully Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospsital in Amsterdam with her devoted daughter at her bedside. Peg was born June 12, 1920 in Johnstown, NY and she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mae Chamberlyn Oare. She attended Knox School in Johnstown and she was employed by several glove shops in Fultonville. Peg later was employed by the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville for many years until retiring in 1982. She loved to be around people and you were always welcome in her home. Peg was a great cook and made the greatest potato salad. On August 16, 1947, she married Richard R. "Dick" Van Antwerp who passed away November 22, 2002. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by five brothers, Harold, George, Herbert, James and Walter; four sisters, Margaret, Hattie, Marion and Lillian. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Van Antwerp of Fonda; a sister Helen Baker of Johnstown; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY, with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Burial will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda. A calling hour will be held from 12 noon to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
