Evelyn Woods, daughter of Olie A. Swinam Fowler and Olan K. Fowler, passed away on August 8, 2024, at the blessed age of 96. 

Evelyn was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who was born, raised and resided all her life in Winter Haven, Florida. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John Riley Woods and is survived by her sons, Dan and his wife, Pam and David. She was affectionately known as “Granny” by her grandchildren, Jennifer, Beau and his wife, Christie, J.D. and his wife, Shannon, Stacy and her husband, Kirk, Jake, and Hannah Rose; great grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Alison, Gabrielle, Joshua and his wife, Kathryn, Nicholas and his wife, Destiny, Abagail, Austin, Olivia and her husband, Ethan, Rylee, Carter, Kirk Jr., Brandon, Madison, Kai, and Wyatt; and great-great grandson, Henry, as well as many friends who adored her.

She was a fantastic cook who hosted numerous family gatherings. As an avid hunter, she and her husband spent many days in the fields. As a tenacious fisherwoman she loved being near a “hot” fishing spot. Happily, she spent many hours on her front porch swing completing crosswords and word puzzles and she could be found inside watching her favorite Game Show Network. Evelyn was an animal lover, particularly of cats and horses, and loved NASCAR, she would always smile at the mere mention of Dale Jarrett. Truly dearest to her heart was her family, for years she and Riley spent their summers touring the country by RV with their grandchildren. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 10 am until the celebration of life service at 11 am, all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City, with the committal service to be at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Riley.
