Everett Fourre

Everett Edward Fourre Everett “Ev” Fourre, 90, passed away at Providence Mother Joseph Care Center, on Thursday, June 19, 2008 of pneumonia. Ev was born to Edward and Elsie Fourre in Asotin, WA. They relocated to Shelton when Ev was young. He graduated from Shelton High School in 1936. After his graduation, he and his father owned and operated a dairy, delivering milk to Shelton residents and surrounding areas. Ev served honorably in World War II, receiving the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. After the war, he worked for the Department of Agriculture, and then owned and operated Bowes Seal Fast automotive supply and was part owner in Lacey Auto Parts. He served as Thurston County Commissioner in 1964-1968. He took pride in helping institute the Neighborhood Youth Core where at-risk kids were given jobs by the State. They also instituted the Timberline Regional Library System during his term. Ev was president of the Washington State association of County Commissioners. He was recently honored as a founding member of the Thurston Regional Planning Council and as a Past President of the Washington State Association of Counties. In 1968, at age 50, Ev started his career in Real Estate. At age 90, Ev was one of the oldest active realtors in the state of Washington. Ev was a past YMCA Board Member and belonged to the Elks and Kiwanis, and many local and state service and professional organizations. He believed strongly in public service and being an active part of the political process. He was a longtime Precinct Committeeman, and active in leadership in the local, state and National Democratic Party; most recently a county delegate at age 89. Ev loved to play golf, and to take his RV to golf tournaments with his late wife Doris. Ev is survived by sons Don Fourre (Kathy) of Sumner, Glen Fourre (Ann) of Shelton; Garry Fourre of Olympia, and stepchildren Tim Swanson of Seattle, Shelley Barclift (Dave) of Olympia, Rob Swanson (Betsy) of Whitefish, MT, and foster daughters Diane Fourre, and Patricia Fourre; as well as numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Fourre, brother Glen R Fourre, and stepdaughter Wendy Scheibel (Chuck) of Olympia. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Christian Community, 1000 Black Lake Blvd, Olympia, on Saturday, July 12, at 12:00 p.m. noon.
