Everrette F. Roberts, age 89, of Sterling, Colorado (formerly of Loveland), passed away on June 14, 2023, flying high in a helicopter on his way to the Greeley hospital. He was born on a farm on Boxelder Creek in Wyoming, (now covered by the Glendo Dam) to Thomas and Hazel (Mittan) Roberts on August 23, 1933. During WWII his family moved to Wheatland, Wyoming where he graduated from high school. Upon graduation from high school, Everrette was employed by Bloedorn Lumber Company for 49 years. He managed lumber yards at Yoder, Lovell, and Wheatland and, finally, Loveland Lumber where he was vice president for 34 years until his retirement in 1999. Everrette was a volunteer fireman, including Chief, with the Loveland Fire Department and was active on the Firemen’s Pension Board and the Fire and Rescue Authority Commission for the City of Loveland. He received an Outstanding service as Chief of the Loveland Volunteer Fire Department from May 1979 to September 1979 plaque. In 1986, he received the Loveland Volunteer Fire Department Chief’s Merit Award for dedicated service from 1967-1986. He received a Certificate of Service at the Loveland Fire Department having served 20 years and 1 month as an active member of the department on January 30, 1988. In his early years, he enjoyed playing basketball and city league softball and later took up the game of golf, which he enjoyed for many years. He even played golf at the Olde Course in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was an avid University of Wyoming football fan and a member of the Cowboy Joe Club. He held UW football season tickets for over 50 years, taking many friends and family to the games. He attended 4 Holiday Bowl games. Everrette was also a big fan of the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets and was thrilled to watch the Nuggets win a championship. He enjoyed his yearly trips to Missouri and southern Iowa. Most of all, he enjoyed his mountain cabins and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Cory of 55 years, his children, Diana (Scott) McKinney, Sandra Becker, Rick (Bitsy) Roberts, Sherri (Don) Weimer, Lucinda (Gary) Matheson, Susan (Jay) Dickson, and Jeff (Cindy) March. Grandchildren David Roberts, Nick (Jacquelyn) Roberts, Melissa Dillon, Christopher Matheson, Michael (Leah) Dickson, Erin (David) Ball, Bethany (Daniel) Walker, Clayton March, Benjamin (Heidi) March, Chad (Betty) March, and AJ (Tawnie) Roberts. Great-grandchildren Carter, Brody, Charlotte, Andi, Holden, Emilie, Cache, Frankie, Nolan, Axel, Barrett and Olivia. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Gloria Naylor and Irene Naylor, numerous nieces and nephews including special nephews Skip (Alisha) Naylor and Scott Naylor and step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and sisters, son Donald Roberts and special great-grandson Wyatt Cade Dillon. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held June 29, 2023, 10:00am, at the First United Methodist Church, 533 Grant, Loveland, Colorado 80537. Reception to follow. Interment will be at the Loveland Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loveland Fire Exhibit Inc.
