Faith Wiltfong Phillips
January 25th, 1923 - December 3rd, 2017
Faith Wiltfong Phillips passed away at the Yuba Acute Care Facility on December 3, 2017, in Yuba City, California. Faith was born on January 25, 1923 in Chesaw, Washington to Dora L. Stephens and Sidney Ulysses Wiltfong; she was the fourth and youngest of their children. She out lived her parents and sisters, Rosamond Eva (Carl) Gray, Bonnie Dora (Leo) Gray and Nettie Belle (John) Garrett, She married Glenn Phillips on November 2, 1939. They have 3 children together Nancy (deceased) (Rex) Wood, Ruby (Jerry) Harms, David (Janine) Phillips. She has 13 grandchildren, Cynthia (Kendall) Warburton, Linda (Chuck) Westmoreland, Gregory Wood (deceased), Louise (Don) Biggs, Laura (Jeff) Edwardson, Faith (Mike) Oberman, Douglas (Buddy) Phillips (deceased) Sarah (Troy) Coleman, Ruby Jewel (Thomas) Sayles, Clarissa Wood (deceased), David (Elizabeth) Phillips, Samantha Phillips and Jennifer (Steve) Gardener. She has 37 great grandchildren and 21 great, great grandchildren. Faith learned how to work hard in her youth and she never quit until her body made her. She was employed outside of her home at different times in her life; she worked in the orchards, the cannery and later at Montgomery Wards. After Glenn's retirement they traveled,(mostly with family),volunteered at the local Veterans Hall passing out food and holding garage sales. She could tackle any project, she helped build their home in Olivehurst and was constantly making improvements to it. She took on all kinds of construction projects, one time she jacked up the house and poured a concrete foundation. She was also a wonderful homemaker; good seamstress, a great cook (her buttermilk pancakes are legend in our family), she canned food, she could crochet and knit anything (something she learned from her mother) she could clean better than Mister Clean, she passed on these skills to her children and grandchildren. After a private family graveside service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, in Sutter Cemetery.
