Memorial

Lombardi, Faye July 7, 1925 – November 16, 2014 Faye Lombardi, 89, of Lakewood, entered peacefully into Eternity on November 16th. Faye was born in Oberlin, Kansas, to Don and Ovanda (Bobbitt) Koehler. She came to Denver in 1943, enrolling in a vocational school learning shorthand and typing to enhance her administrative skills. She met and married Vincent James Lombardi in 1947. They relocated to Jim’s home, Brooklyn, New York, in that same year, then moved back to Denver to stay in 1958 with their 2 daughters, Mary and Janet. As a homemaker, she started the first ever Brownie Troop in Brooklyn in 1955, and remained active in the Colorado Girl Scouts for the remainder of her life. In 1975 she entered the workforce as a recruiter for the oil & gas and mining industries with Rockleaf Recruiting. In that same year she met her friend and life-long companion of 38 years, Danny LoSasso. Her remaining years with Danny became filled with worldwide travel, weekly dances, and of course, friends and family. During her 15 years with Rockleaf, she became actively involved in Women In Mining, an organization that encouraged Faye to join as the only non-industry person allowed. They would later reward Faye for her outstanding contribution to women working in the mining industry. Following her career as a recruiter, she joined Shear Productions, Janet’s hair salon, as a bookkeeper and office manager for 22 years. Faye, never forgetting where she was from, clung to her childhood home by serving as the Chairperson for the Decatur County (Kansas) High School (class of ’42) Alumni Association, and the Chairperson for the Decatur County Picnic, held annually in Colorado for those who had relocated to Colorado. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Glen) Dye and Janet (John Woods) Lombardi; Grandchildren, Lance (Karly) Taylor, Nick (Janni Stewart – finance) Lombardi, Bailee Woods, and Roman (Deanna) Dye; Great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lennon Dye. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Everett Koehler and Donald (Bud) Koehler; Sisters, Marge Roth and Dorothy Sauvage. Services will be held Saturday, November 29th, at Foothills Bible Church, 6100 South Devinney Way, Littleton, CO 80127 at 11:00am. A reception will immediately follow in the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in the memory of Faye Lombardi to the Colorado Girl Scouts, at 3801 E. Florida Ave., #720, Denver, CO 80210, or The Denver Hospice, at 501 S. Cherry St., #700, Denver, CO 80246.
