Ms. Faye Newton, age 71 a longtime Polk County resident passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Auburndale Oaks due to COPD. Ms. Newton was born October 10, 1943 in Samson, AL. to John Aaron and Cuba Nell (Nelson) McKnight. She was a homemaker and graduated from Auburndale High School Class of 1962. Faye was a state certified teacher and a social worker. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakeland. She enjoyed crosswords, decorating and she loved being an artist by drawing, painting, clay and chalk. She was preceded in death by her parents; son - Jeffrey M. Baxter; 2 brothers - John A. McKnight, Jr and David "Joey" I. McKnight. Faye is survived by; Daughter: Wendy Wallis Gursky of Winter Haven Brother: Willie Mac McKnight of Lake Wales Sister: Mary (Ron) Francher of Lakeland 2 Grandchildren: John Mercer Wallis, IV and Marah Sinclair Summerlin Several nieces, nephews & cousins Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland.
