Flora M. Cormier
February 28th, 1917 - November 2nd, 2009
Flora Cormier was born in Corinth MS on February 28, 1917 to Ida and Lushes Manning. At a very young age she, her sisters Dimple and Effie and one niece relocated to East St Louis, IL after the passing of their parents. Flora married Clement White (preceded in death) and to that union two children, Doris and Edith were born. She moved to Oregon in the early 60's then on to Tacoma, WA. And later in years she met and married Willie Cormier and they raised a daughter Diane. In 1970 she was overjoyed when her sister Dimple, whom she loved whole heartedly and was her inspiration joined her here in Tacoma. This also brought additional family members to Tacoma. She was a nurse at Madigan Army Medical Center in the Labor and Delivery Ward for 19 years. She was a foster parent for many young children for over 30 years. She loved the Lord and shared her talents and love for music from the angel choir to adult choir. Mother Cormier also was involved in many groups, she was an Eastern Star and was over the Sunbeams Puget Sound Chapter #80. Mother Cormier was a longtime member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where you could find her most every Sunday. She was on the Mothers Board, hospitality, medical, Pastors Aid, and fund raising committees. She would always cook her special dishes for Sunday dinners at the church. Often, she would make special treats for the children on other Sundays, just to give them a little something between Sunday School and Morning Service. She also had a love for bingo. She will be missed but not forgotten at BJ's. Preceding her in death is husband Willie Cormier, daughter Doris Farwell, grandson Odum Farwell Jr., two sisters and four brothers. Mother Cormier leaves to celebrate her home going: daughters Edith Mosley of St Louis, MO; Diane Cormier of Tacoma WA; nephew/son Leonard (Dorothy) Williams of Renton WA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren and one great niece that kept her smiling Rose Marie Evans. Also a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
