Florence G. Dodge

Mrs. Florence Gertrude Stark Dodge, 97, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday morning, January 20,2022 at the River Ridge Living Center LLC. in Amsterdam, following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on January 9, 1925 a daughter of the late William and Gertrude Wood Brown. She was lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mrs. Dodge was employed by Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and New York State Offices for many years. Florence enjoyed crocheting, quilting, traveling in her Winnebago, spending time with her family, and was an avid Yankee’s fan. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She married Victor Stark on March 10, 1946, he passed away in 1966. She then married Wayne Dodge, who also predeceased her. Florence is survived by her daughter, Nancy Stark of Amsterdam, two sons, James (Karen) Stark of Mayfield, NY and Dale (Debra) Stark of Houston, TX. Grandchildren, Tracy, Todd, Lee and Sara Stark, Toni Bracchi, Angela Williamson and Robert Orsini. Several great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive. She is predeceased by her brother William "Bud" Brown and Matilda "Tillie" M. George who recently passed on January 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 27, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday prior to the funeral service from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the funeral Home.
