Memorial

Obituary for Florence Senf Duggins Military wife, mother, community volunteer, dog breeder and trainer Florence (Petey) Duggins, aged 89, left this life and stepped into the nearer presence of God on June 5, 2014. She was born in Tucson, Arizona and was raised in Phoenix. Petey and her husband, the late chief Master Sergeant A.D., (Pete) Duggins shared assignments all over the United States including Ohio, Washington, D.C., Alaska and Florida. Her most memorable change of assignment came when her husband, Pete was assigned to Pepperell A.F.B. in Newfoundland. After waiting almost a year for base housing to come available Petey singlehandedly drove an old Chevy Station wagon filled with five children, a Great Dane and a cat from Phoenix, Arizona to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Then in 1970 they bought their first and only home in Melbourne, Florida when Pete and Petey were assigned to Patrick Air Force Base. Petey, a lifelong dog fancier, obedience and conformation trainer owned several champion Salukis. She evenhandedly raised all her children alongside Great Danes, Collies, German Shepherds and several cats expecting the same level of obedience from all parties. She was the founder of the Indian River Dog Training club and a lifetime member of the American Whippet Club. Petey took great pride in her volunteer work at the Holmes Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She faithfully served for 25 years as a volunteer in the Faster Care section of the Emergency Room and in the Cardiac Care Center. Petey was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. (Pete) Duggins, a son, Bruce and a grandson, Gary Nilges. She is survived by her children and grandchildren including David and Mary Duggins, their daughter Rachel and step-daughter Jennifer Hinsdale, Kathleen and her husband Daniel Nilges, Michael, his wife Joan and their daughter Emily, Mary and her husband Frank Everett and their children Reese and Andrea Everett, Melissa and Michael Laggas, Timothy and his daughter Courtney, and Patrick and Lucia Duggins. Great grandchildren include Miles and Caitlin Nilges, Rebekah and Benjamin Laggis, Reese T, Andrea, Katie and Julianna Everett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne Fl., Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens Rockledge, Florida

I never met Florence Duggins but I know her daughter well. There was certainly something wonderful in her to have produced a daughter that is loved by so many. I look forward to meeting her in God's new world. I'm certain Jehovah will remember her for good. In the mean time may that Bible truth comfort the hearts of her friends and family.Acts 24:15 "I have hope toward God, which hope these men themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous".

I have known Kathy since high school but never met her Mother. Kathy and Dan are loving people and always had Ms. Duggins welfare at heart. I remember one visit I had when they were concerned she could not stay by herself and later I found out her situation worked out. Dan and Kathy's friends were able to be their eyes to see she was cared for safely. Ms Duggins certainly had a full life and to train dogs took patience. What a trip that must have been with the children and dogs from Texas to Newfoundland. I look forward to meeting her in the resurrection. My sympathy to the entire family for their loss.

I remember: when we saw her I could make her smile. She liked it when we held her hand. She enjoyed my grandchildren as they gently carressed her. They also got her to smile. I remember the peacful look on her face as she neared her end and I told her I will see you in paradise. What a safe place to be,in God's memory waiting peacfully until God's time arrives to raise her back up.My favorite scripture: Job 14:14,15 Please look it up. I can picture it now,God says:Florence, time to get up!And she replies:Here I am! And she is quickly reunited with her family and friends. I want to be there when that happens! Love you all,Doug and Marianne

Dear family, my deepest sympathy to you all. I am friend of Dan and Kathy, I understand how difficult it is to lose a family member. I hope you find comfort from Gods word at this difficult time. I always find comfort in this scripture at Revelation 21:4 It says: "He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore, the former things have passed away." Gods promises give us a hope of seeing our loved ones again. John 5:28 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.
