Florence Natalie Weissman McMartin

Florence Natalie (Taboleski) Weissman McMartin , 84 , of Amsterdam , NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the EL Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam following a brief illness. Florence was born on November 27, 1931 in Amsterdam , New York a daughter of the late John Taboleski and Natalie (Akstulewicz) Tabolseki. She was raised in Amsterdam and Cohoes, NY where she graduated from Cohoes High School in 1949. Florence enjoyed a successful career in the accounting offices of the former Ward Products, Sears and Roebuck Co., and Montco Manufacturing. More recently, Florence (Flo) enjoyed working at the former Mr. B's Pizza in the Amsterdam Mall. Florence was an active member of the Sisterhood and Hadassah at the Congregation Sons of Israel in Amsterdam, NY and was an auxiliary member of Knesseth Israel Synagogue in Gloversville, NY. As one of ten children, and with as many aunts and uncles, Florence thoroughly enjoyed the many family gatherings of her extended family. The combined Akstulewicz family 'picnics' were huge and provided many fond memories over the years. You knew the party was really over when she and her sisters, Jo & Lil would gather everyone together and start singing: 'God Bless America'. Florence was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, and cherished her two sons and four grandchildren. Florence was predeceased in 1980 by her first husband, Harold (Harry) B. Weissman, whom she married in 1953. She was also predeceased in 2015 by her second husband, William "Val" McMartin, whom she married in 1983. Florence is also predeceased by her siblings: brothers Barney, Steve and Robert Taboleski, Lee Taber, sisters, Helen Sorel, Mary Taboleski and Katherine Weakley. Florence is survived by: her sons and grandchildren, Michael H. Weissman and his sons, Joshua and Jared Weissman of Amsterdam , David H.(Coleen) Weissman and their children, Kevin and Meaghan Weissman of Colts Neck, NJ. Step-daughter, Sharon Langford of Margate, FL., step-son, James (Kathy) McMartin of Amsterdam, NY. She is also survived by her dear sisters: Josephine (Seward) Van O'Linda and Lillian (William) Zeppieri. Nieces Debora Berger of Gloversville, NY, Diane (Weissman) (Richard) Rosenholtz of Boynton Beach, FL, Jocelyn (Weissman) (John) Keene of Saratoga, NY, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and Friends are invited to attend a calling period on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 12:00 Noon to 1:30P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:30 PM with Service Leader Suzanne Schermerhorn presiding. Burial will be private.
