Florence Trevino, 79, of Greeley, died peacefully on Monday July 3rd, at her son's home in Greeley. She was born June 20, 1938 in Lytle, TX to Francisco and Victoria (Martinez) Campos. She moved with her family to Windsor, CO at the age of twelve. On October 5, 1957 she married Ruben C. Trevino in Windsor. Together they had seven children, who were her pride and joy. They instilled in all of them a love of learning and the goal of education. She worked for Weld County School District 6 for twenty nine years, starting as the director of the Follow-Through Program, then as an attendance monitor, parent coordinator and teacher's assistant at Park Elementary when here children attended school there. When her close friend Billie Martinez died in 1971, the school was renamed in Billie's honor, and Florence continued to work at the school until her retirement in 2001. Florence was a member of the Candelaria Association, and active in community issues. In 1994 she was awarded the "Mujer Con Poder" Award by the Hispanic Women of Weld County in recognition of the positive contributions to the success of her children. Florence and her husband were instrumental in the education and careers of all of their children. They instilled in them the work ethic and dedication necessary for their accomplishments. Everyone who knew her admired her unconditional love and dedication to her family. She and her husband were extremely proud that all seven of their children acheived college degrees, being the first generation to do so. Two became attorneys, one received a Doctorate, two acheived Master's degrees and several became business owners. The next generation, her grandchildren, are also following in that example. Florence believed that her children, and all children, would have better lives if they had a strong educational foundation. This was evidenced by her many years working passionately with young children in the school district. Her children are forever grateful for their parents' sacrifices for them, and their unfailing encouragement. Florence was very active in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. She could always be counted on to help with weddings, funerals and festivals at the church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she loved all of the big family celebrations. She will be deeply missed. Survivors are her daughter, Diana Arnold; her sons Eddie Trevino, Daniel (Karen) Trevino, Dale (Michelle) Trevino, Ruben (Kathlyne) Trevino, Jr. all of Greeley, Steven (Nanci) Trevino of Parker; brother Dean (Vicki) Campos of Highlands Ranch; daughter-in-law Kris (Jeff) Nance of Greeley; 16 grandchildren, Cody (Ashley) Trevino, Colt Trevino, Anthony Trevino, Joshua (Andrea) Trevino, Jacob Arnold, Austin (Jordan) Trevino, Noah Trevino, Wesley Trevino, Audrey Trevino, Andrew (Daniella) Trevino, Brandon Trevino, Levi Trevino, Jared Trevino, Ryan Trevino, Alexandra Trevino and Hillary Trevino, 8 great-grandchildren, Nia, Eva, Xan, Ari, Benjamin, Grayson, Fisher and Mae and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Ruben, her son Salvador Trevino, her grandson Eric Trevino, her brother Emilio Campos, and her parents.
