Floy Montoya Fuentes

Floy Montoya Fuentes entered into the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of January 6, 2020. She was born on January 20, 1925 to Juanita and Rosenaldo Montoya in the village of Truchas. She married Gilbert Fuentes of Logan, NM on November 2, 1946. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, her oldest son Gilbert Thomas, an infant son Juan Benito, her parents, and her brothers Efren and wife Jenny, Nabor and wife Delmira, and Nestor and wife Christina, and son in law Raul Ortiz. She is survived by her children Dolores and Husband Richard Guzman, their children Amanda and Kenneth Clenaghan and their son Michael, Alicia Inez Guzman, daughter Elena Fuentes-Ortiz, and her children Melissa Lopez, and her daughters, Analise and Adrianna Lopez, and John Herrera, son Jerry, and his sons Adam and Matthew and his son Julius, and son Patrick and his sons Joseph, and partner Tess and their children, Josie, John and Jovan, son Steven and partner Renee and son Steven, and daughter in law Ina Fuentes. She is a graduate of McCurdy School, and of the Santa Business School. She became a licensed bookkeeper and business manager. She first worked at Santa Fe Automotive as a bookkeeper and office manager. She transitioned to the New Mexico Gasoline Tax Department. When WW II ended, Gilbert and Floy applied and got employment at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She thereafter left working at the labs to start their family, after which she returned to work as the school secretary at the Truchas Mission School. She eventually applied and went to work for the Espanola Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist where she retired to take care of her elderly parents. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 9:30 am at Nuestra Señora Del Sagrado Rosario Church in Truchas, NM with the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Los Llanitos Cemetery in Truchas. Pallbearers for Floy Fuentes are Patrick, Joseph, Steven Fuentes, Alicia and Richard Guzman, and Melissa Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers are all her God Children, and John Herrera, Amanda Guzman Clenaghan, Tito Montoya (deceased) David Montoya, Jake Lopez, Pricilla Fernandez, and Ida Carrillo.
