All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Floyd Finch
November 9th, 1933 - April 12th, 2013
Floyd Edwards Finch, 79, of Lebanon, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2013, at Cherry Creek Nursing Center in Aurora, Colorado with his wife and children at his side. Floyd was born in Indianola, Nebraska on November 9, 1933, to Harry and Sarah “Sadie” (Colligan) Finch. He was their fifth child of seven. Floyd graduated from Indianola High School in 1951 and soon after joined the United States Air Force. Floyd served four years, and for part of that time he was stationed in Japan during the Conflict in Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Floyd returned home to Indianola where he met Patricia Ann Lehn. They married on February 13, 1956, in Oberlin, Kansas. Soon after the wedding they traveled to Denver, Colorado to seek adventure and employment. Floyd worked as freight loader for Time D-C Trucking Company in Denver, Colorado for 25 years and belonged to Teamsters Local Union 17. Floyd umpired for local little league games when his two boys played baseball, which he enjoyed very much. He was an avid University of Colorado Buffalos football fan and held season tickets for the Denver Broncos for over 50 years. He was fond of league bowling, playing Texas Hold-em, Checkers and Rummy. He also loved traveling with Pat. They had been to Jamaica, Mexico, the Bahamas, on several cruises and various other destinations. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, the Jack Helt Post #313 of Lebanon, and the Beaver Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars. Floyd is survived by his wife Patricia; sons, Ed Finch of Aurora, CO, Ron Finch (Shayne) of Fayetteville, GA, and daughter Deann Mikelson of Aurora, CO; five granddaughters; Rheannon (Jimmy) Bales of Stockbridge, GA, Rhonda (Tim) Newsome of Fayetteville, GA, Cheyenna Mikelson of Commerce City, CO, Rhandi Finch of Kennesaw, GA, and Sarah Finch of Aurora, CO; four great-grandchildren, Annie Bales, Jazmyn Newsome, Brooklyn Tovar and Brody Mikelson; one brother, Bernard “Bernie” (Sue) Finch of Cheyenne, WY; one brother-in-law, Gary Hunt of Kerrville, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and great friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Rosemary Arnold, Catherine Tuttle, Margaret “Peggy” Lundy, and Sarah Hunt; two brothers, Francis “Bud” Finch; an infant twin of Bud, Frederick Finch; one infant son Anthony Duane Finch; and one infant grandson “Little” Ron Finch. Floyd and Patricia had retired to Lebanon, NE (summer) and Panama City Beach, FL (winter) for many years and really enjoyed this time together. They temporarily relocated to Aurora, CO. and were there nearly 3 years, a move that was necessary so that Floyd could receive top-notch care after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at St. Catherines’s Catholic Church in Indianola, NE. with Father Thomas McGuire as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetary with military honors to be conducted by American Legion Posts. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in Floyd’s name to Pinnacle Hospice Care, 13900 E. Harvard Ave., Ste. 150, Aurora, CO. www.allstatescremation.com
