Frances "Rosie" Rosalie Engel
December 27th, 1931 - June 5th, 2020
Frances Rosalie Engel of Loveland, Colorado died June 5, 2020, of natural causes, at the Loveland Good Samaritan Village. She was born in DeSmet South Dakota on December 27, 1931 to George Sr. and Matilda Mary McDonald. Frances, fondly known as Rosie, grew up on a farm near DeSmet, and graduated high school there. She met the love of her life, Edward J. Engel, in October 1951 at the Arkota Ballroom in Sioux Falls, SD. They were married in DeSmet on April 17, 1952. They lived in Sioux Fallsuntil moving to Loveland 1964. Rosie was a full-time mom until she began working at Hewlett Packard in 1969. She worked in the Purchasing until retirement in 1990. After retirement Ed and Rosie spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ to get away from the cold and snow. In 1997 they moved to Apache Junction and returned to Loveland for the summers toescape the heat of Arizona. They moved back to Loveland in 2016 to be near family. Rosie enjoyed dancing in her early married years, but came to love polka dancing the most. She and Edward were members of the Polka Club of Arizona for several years, working and dancing at polka festivals around the country and in Canada. She also enjoyed being with family and friends. She had that Irish-German flare, and will always be remembered for her warmth and kindness. Rosie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Edward J. Engel; sister Dorothy McCoy; children Steve (Bobbi), Dianne Hakes, Chris (Chriselda), Tim (Loreen), Jeanine (Paul) Vasquez, Lee (Kenna) and Janelle.
