Frances June Fannon
June 5th, 1935 - January 16th, 2024
Frances June Fannon June 5, 1935 - January 16, 2024 Frances “June” Fannon, age 88, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.D. and Venus Fannon; brothers, Jack, Joe, and Kenny; and sister, Mary Allen. June is survived by her sister-in-law, Jean Fannon of Duffield along with numerous loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Although June never had children of her own, she was a “mother” to all her nieces, nephews, and many children whose lives she touched. June was a devoted teacher, impacting the lives of countless students throughout her career as a public school educator, Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher. She was a faithful Christian who attended Duffield Primitive Baptist Church. She spent her summer vacations teaching Bible School with Miss Avis Edmond and Miss Isabelle Sipperley in Wise, Lee, and Scott counties. In addition, she worked as a Chapter 1 teacher in Scott County for over 30 years. Her passion for education and her unwavering belief in her students’ potential inspired and changed many lives. While we will miss June deeply, let us be thankful for the time we shared with her and celebrate special memories, for that is how she would want to be remembered. The family will receive friends at Duffield Primitive Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00, with a song service to follow. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. We are honored to have family and friends serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Duffield Primitive Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. We would like to thank June’s special friends and helpers, her caregivers from Ridgecrest Nursing Home, Orbin Engle, Charlotte Bishop, Judy Bledsoe, Mary Francis Seymour, and the Roach and Calton families. The care of June Fannon and her family has been entrusted to the staff of Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City.
