Frances “Fran” Kay Hammons, age 68, formerly of Mountain Home, passed away at her home in Glenns Ferry, on Friday, December 28, 2018. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2018 at 11A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Glenns Ferry with burial to follow at Glenn Rest. Arrangements are under the care of Rost Funeral Home, in Mountain Home. Fran was born on April 15, 1950 to Ernest and Barbara Cox in Elmhurst, IL. She grew up in a Chicago suburb called Lombard where she lived with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Growing up, she had the love of playing different musical instruments and singing in a choir. In her early 20s she moved to Chicago where she pursued a successful career of computer programming. Shortly after that she had a son and moved back to Lombard only a few blocks from where she grew up. She took up interest in many activities such as motorcycles, traveling, quilting, cake decorating, scuba diving, camping and the growing computer industry. She continued on with providing many opportunities for her only child, bought a home and was involved in boy scouts and the church. In 2003, she moved to Mountain Home where she started a taxi service called Fran’s Affordable Ride and became a permanent and respected figure of the community. After enjoying the many country areas of Idaho and making new friends, she chose to permanently stay here. Fran resided for the last few years in Glenns Ferry where she spent a lot of her free time quilting, reading and watching movies. Fran powered through her deteriorated health and put others needs before her own. She was a compassionate, generous, and humanitarian with a heart of gold that adopted strays of all kinds. She was loved and will be missed by all. Fran is survived by her son Dustin and his wife Cindy Hammons and her grandchildren Chase and Hailey Hammons all of Edwards, CA., sisters Janet Carroll of Grove City, CA. and Elizabeth Cox of Mountain Home, Id. and brothers Edward and his wife Janet Cox of Blythwood, SC and William Cox of Davis, IL. Fran is preceded in death by both her parents. Memorials can be made in Fran’s name to the Mountain Home Animal Shelter at 295 NW Elmcrest Street, Mountain Home, Id.

We Entrusted Frances Hammons's Care To

Rost Funeral Home

As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
