Frances MacRae
June 14th, 1927 - October 31st, 2011
"Frances Ruth (Smith) MacRae, 84, former longtime resident of Wilbraham, died peacefully on Monday, October 31. Born in Kingston, New York, June 14, 1927, she was the daughter of Henry and Cornelia Smith. Her work life included employment at the Army Quarter Master's office, Stanford Hall and Palmer State Hospital where she was a nurse's aide, 26 years at the former Tambrands in Three Rivers, as well as the Stop & Shop Supermarket in East Longmeadow. Frances led a full and generous life, and will be deeply remembered for her love of family, her gift of friendship to many, and a penchant for bingo, bowling and watching the Red Sox play. Her husband, William Lincoln MacRae, preceded her in death in 2000. She will be missed by her children, Jane-Anne MacRae of Sarasota, Florida, and Ralph MacRae of Monson, along with her precious grandchildren, Clifford Andrew Jorgensen, Alessandra Love Simons, and Tanya Marie MacRae. She is also survived by great granddaughters Selicia Marie DuBose and Sydney Lee Simons, a sister, Dorothy Contey, brothers Albert Smith and Harold Smith and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, husband, and siblings, a son, Russell Angus MacRae (2011) preceded her in death. Calling hours will be Friday, November 4 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. A funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center Resident Council, 305 Maple St., E. Longmeadow, 01028, ATTN: Emily Perkins, or Dr. Susan Love Cancer Research Foundation. "
