Frances Tinsley

August 14th, 1933 - May 5th, 2024

Frances Tinsley died peacefully at home in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday May 5th, 2024 at the age of 90, surrounded by loving family. She was born in Dallas, Texas where she spent most of her life. She spent the latter part of her life in the Southwest to include Santa Fe, NM and finally Tucson, Arizona in order to be close to family.

She loved baking, especially during the holidays when she showered her family with delicious baked goods. She enjoyed watching football with her husband Alonzo and they were avid Dallas Cowboys fans.

She enjoyed going to flea markets and garage sales on the weekends, especially “First Monday” in Canton, Texas.  She was a true treasure hunter and collected many owl figurines and dolls over the years.  She loved owls!

She was preceded in death by her mother Blanche Merchet, father Monroe Merchet, daughter Pamela Smalley, and loving husband Alonzo Tinsley.

She is survived by her children Diana Martin, Debra Moore (Gary), Vickie Oatman, and Sonny Rosemond (Paula) and her grandchildren Chelsea, Johnathan, Sarah, Benjamin, Michelle, Jennifer, Michael, Jeremy, and Kimberly; along with sixteen great grandchildren.

Thank you to Agape Hospice for their amazing support and guidance through this difficult time. You all are truly angels.

There will be an internment ceremony on Tuesday May 28th at 10:00 am at

Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Marana

15950 N. Luckett Rd.

When was a time Frances made you laugh?

Frances was a sweet special soul with a witty sense of humor. Her thick Texas accent only added to her charm. Years ago she told us a time when she almost fell in the bathtub. Her words exactly: "I fell for 30 minutes!" On a more serious note the owl pictured here showed up the day she came home from the hospital. We were convinced it was there watching over her. We haven't seen him since she passed. She loved owls. They were her spirit guide. You will be greatly missed Frances. Love, Paula
