Frances Spatola Van Savage

Van Savage, Frances Spatola, 83, of Sun City Center, Fla. passed away May 16, 2009 in Sun City Center, Fla. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Reginald of Sun City Center, Fla., daughter, Deborah (John) Jones of Cheltenham, MD, granddaughter, Natalie Marie, sister, Delores Bacon of Newark, NY and brother, Prospero (Dorothy) Spatola Jr. of Newark Valley, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Prospero and Mary (Goodsell) Spatola, 2 brothers, Michael and Vincent Spatola and a sister, Dorothy Maslanka. A mass of the resurrection will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City Center, Fla. Interment of the urn will take place at a later date in Florida National Cemetery. Frances lived in many places including Western New York, Long Island, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland before settling in Sun City Center in 1992. In 1975, she became the head buyer for BoPeep Children's Apparel Stores. After moving to Sun City Center she danced in the King's Point Follies as a member of the Silver Tappers for 15 years. Because of her love of the theater she became an usher at the Borini Theater and Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, she was also a member of Red Hat Society, Classy Ladies Chapter, Emergency Squad, Director of the Pennsylvania Club. She had a very special relationship with her sister-in-law, Alice Shimkus. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association in her memory.
