Frances McCorkle Wilkerson Mrs. Wilkerson, 83, formerly of the Oakdale Community, died on March 9, 2011 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. She was born on December 4, 1927 in Kannapolis, NC, daughter of the late, Alfred A. and Minnie McCorkle. Mrs. Wilkerson graduated from Central High School in 1946 and in 1948 married Robert F. Wilkerson. She retired from Mercy Hospital in December 1989 as an Accounting Supervisor after 23 years. Mr. & Mrs. Wilkerson are long time members of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Doctors Edwin H. Shoaf, Jr., K.D. Weeks, and Ahmad Kashif for the care they gave. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas O. McCorkle and her sister, Zenna McCorkle. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Bob Wilkerson; her daughter, Ann Wilkerson; son, Bobby Wilkerson and his wife, Kim; granddaughters, Heather and April Wilkerson; a brother, Donald P. McCorkle and his wife, Peggy; sister-in-law, Lucille McCorkle and nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Billy Towery, officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hughes, Sam Aycock, Bobby Penninger, Donnell Mickens, and Charlie Skipper. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Rd. Charlotte, NC 28216
