Frances Joyce Wood

Frances Joyce Kennedy Wood, 94, of Winter Haven passed away from natural causes on May 3, 2016, at Winter Haven Hospital. Frances was born January 9, 1922 in Riverside, Rhode Island to the late Frances and William Kennedy. Frances was a graduate of East Providence High School, was a telephone operator for New England Telephone and was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War ll. Frances is preceded in death by: her husband of 59 years, Seth Arthur Wood, a son, Seth Andrew Wood, a brother Robert Kennedy, a sister Barbara Stone and a son-in-law, Carl Benker. She is survived by three sons, Robert Wood (Judith) of N. Fort Myers, FL, Donald Wood of Seekonk, MA; Gary Wood (Gretchen) of Middleboro, MA, and three daughters, Valerie Benker of Groton Long Point, CT, Leslie Clark (Peter) of Winter Haven, FL; Wendy Hubbard (Gordon) of Seekonk, MA, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Frances and Seth (Woody) owned Wood's Service Station in East Providence, Rl before retiring and moving to Florida 34 years ago. Frances enjoyed swimming and golfing and was a member of the Cypresswood 9 Hole Golf League. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 902 Scenic Hwy (544), Haines City, FL on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 3 PM. Inurnment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 2:30 PM.
