Klaas, Francis Joseph “Red” Beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa Age 88 of Maplewood. Passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 12, 2014. He was born in Glencoe, MN in 1925 to Frank & Agnes Klaas. Red served in WWII aboard the aircraft carrier USS Makassar Strait. He married the love of his life, Eileen, in 1949 and was a longtime "Floor Installation Technician" with St. Paul Linoleum. Longtime active parishioner and employee of Transfiguration Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ben, Ray, Bert & Joseph and grandson Jeff McBride. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Eileen; children Ruth (Gary) McBride, Debbie (Dennis) Werner, Jerry, Nancy (Mark) Jay, Greg (Lisa) and Sharon Maloney; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many special friends. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday (June 17) at 1:00 PM at TRANSFIGURATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 6133-15th Street North, Oakdale. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8:00 pm and one hour before the Mass ALL AT CHURCH. Interment Union Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Alzheimer’s Association or Transfiguration Church. Many thanks to the staff at Woodbury Care Center ~ Memory Wing, St. Paul Cerenity Day Away and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Red.
