Francis "Sr." Richard Lampkin

Francis Richard Lampkin, 93, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023 at Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility, with his loving family by his side. Francis was born on September 17, 1929 in Amsterdam to the late Raymond and Mary (Hamm) Lampkin, and was raised in Galway, New York. Francis proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953, and is a combat veteran who fought during the Korean War. When Francis returned home from duty, he settled into civilian life, working as an Offset Pressman for the Amsterdam Evening Recorder for 39 years. On June 6, 1954 Francis was united in marriage to Josephine (Sisario) Lampkin, with whom he has shared the past 68 years with. Ever the man to keep himself busy, Francis’s first retirement was not long-lived, as he soon found himself working as a Driver and Handyman for Dr. John Kearney in Gloversville. After retiring from his position with the Doctor, Francis took up groundskeeping work at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, until his third and final retirement in 2010. When he wasn’t keeping busy at work, Francis enjoyed going for long drives, and stopping at garage sales along the way. Francis’s loving family includes his wife, Josephine Lampkin; his sons, Richard (Creen) Lampkin, Terrence (Nancy) Lampkin, Francis R. Lampkin Jr., and Scott Lampkin; his daughter-in-law, Linda Lampkin; grandchildren, Rockelle, William Jr., Jamie, and Jessica; four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Aside from his parents, Raymond and Mary, Francis is preceded in passing by his son, William Lampkin Sr. Funeral services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Amsterdam.
