Belews Creek- Francis Ervin Whicker, died Saturday November 19, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 2:45PM Monday November 21, 2011 at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Autrey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A Forsyth County native, Ervin was the son of the late Emra Francis, and Pearl Barrow Whicker. Francis retired from Western Electric/Lucent with 35 years of service. He enjoyed farming, golfing, and camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a charter member of the United Methodist Men, and an active member of the Bill Vanhoy/Ron Williams Sunday School Class. Survivors include his loving wife Polly Lasley Whicker of the home; son Warren Whicker and wife Elaine of Belews Creek; grandsons Nathan Whicker and wife Zee of Kernersville, and John Whicker of Belews Creek; sister Louise Smithson and husband Jack “Smitty” of Lewisville; brother Burton Whicker and wife Vicki of Walnut Cove; and several nieces and nephews. The family will visit with friends following the service in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morris Chapel Building Fund, 2715 Darrow Road, Walkertown, NC, 27051.
