Frank J. Fugazzi
February 4th, 1926 - December 18th, 2018
Frank J. Fugazzi, 92, of Lexington, KY, husband of Joy Karlene Adams Fugazzi for 65 years, passed away on December 18, 2018. He was born February 4, 1926, in Versailles, KY, to the late John Constantine and Leon Margaret Fugazzi. He is survived by, in addition to his wife, his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Fugazzi-Linton and James Linton, and Dana Fugazzi-Smith and Kenny Smith; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Joshua) Mincey, Zachary (Charlene) Woodward, and Natalie Smith; his sister, Marie Manley; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members, friends, and loved ones. His brothers, Nolan Fugazzi and Paul Fugazzi, and grandson, Nathan Francis Smith, preceded him in death. Frank was a graduate of the Fugazzi Business College and attended the University of Kentucky. He proudly served his country in the US Navy in the Pacific Campaign during World War II, where he served in combat during the Liberation of the Philippines, and in the US Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, during the Korean War, where he served in combat in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, forever known as the Frozen Chosin. He was among a dwindling number of World War II veterans who helped save our world and quality of life. We are forever grateful for his service. Frank retired from the US Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, as a manager in Federal Prison Industries and was a real estate broker for many years. After his retirement, he spent his time playing golf, traveling, and maintaining his rental properties. His uncanny ability to solve and repair maintenance problems left little need for service calls. He will always be remembered for his love of family, friends, and country. He was a kind, caring, giving man with a quick wit and a dry sense of humor who wished for nothing but good will to all. All who knew him will sorely miss him. A special thank you to his caregivers, Rina Hicks and Socorro Collado, for the loving care they provided to Frank for the last three years. Thank you also to the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center staff for the kindness and nursing care shown to him for the last two months of his life. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm, at the Clark Legacy Center, 601 E Brannon Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356. Funeral service will be held at the Clark Legacy Center on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 11:00 am, with military burial to follow at Lexington Cemetery. www.clarklegacycenter.com Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Lexington Area Parkinson’s Support Group, PO Box 4424, Lexington, KY 40544-4424 or the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
