Dr. Frank Winters Gaskill, III passed away in Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 55 on August 11, 2024.  Born on January 11, 1969, in Martinsville, VA, he was the son and only child of the late Janice Stovall Gaskill and Frank Winters Gaskill, Jr.

Frank graduated from Kinston High School in Kinston, NC in 1987.  Following graduation, he earned his PhD in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  A long-time resident of Charlotte, NC, he co-founded Southeast Psych in Charlotte, one of the most respected group psychology practices in the region.  He also co-authored "How We Built Our Dream Practice," a book that became a valuable resource for many solo and group practices across the country. Dr. Gaskill worked at Southeast Psych for nearly two decades.

Dr. Gaskill's passion for helping children, particularly those with Asperger’s Syndrome (as it was then called), was evident throughout his career. He co-authored "Max Gamer," a graphic novel about an "Aspie" boy who uses his special abilities to become a superhero. The book resonated with many families and professionals, providing a unique perspective on the strengths of children on the autism spectrum. He was widely recognized as an expert in working with neurodiverse clients. His approach to therapy was marked by humor, creativity, and a focus on personal strengths. His work has had a lasting impact on the lives of countless children and their families.

He is survived by his daughter, Olivia, and son, Maddox, whom he loved.  They intend to celebrate his life privately.

The growth of our service and the community's support led to our move in March 1963 to the current location—once St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, built in 1930. Our chapel, a cherished historic landmark within the storied Dilworth neighborhood, is renowned for being the only funeral home in Charlotte graced with its own chapel, echoing with decades of history and serenity....
