Frank Masera of Yuba City passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2014 at the age of 90. He was born to Italian immigrants Louis and Josephine Masera in Live Oak, CA and was a life-long Sutter County resident. He started farming at a young age with his father and brother. Over the years, the boys grew peaches, prunes, walnuts, almonds and alfalfa. The Masera Brothers farmed until 1986. He was a past president of the Holy Angles Father's Club, and was on the board of directors for the California Canning Peach Association. He was also a past member of the Elk's Lodge, Moose Lodge, SIRS, and the Slow-Trollers Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed the annual out-of-state deer hunting trips with his brother Bob and friends. He enjoyed trolling the lakes with Bob in their boat. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delores, his sister Enis Engstrom of Woodland, his sister-in-law Pauline Masera of Yuba City, his daughters Madonna (Michael) Lopin of Grass Valley, Diana (Dave) Fishback of Colusa, son Frank (Kathy) Masera of Livermore, 9 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildern and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Bob, brother-in-law Kip Engstrom, daughter-in- law Evee Masera and great-grandson Jayce Lopin. Services will be held Thursday, January 30th at Ullrey Memorial Chapel at 1 pm.
