Frank Eberhard Miller April 15, 1930 – April 12 2018 Resident of Santa Cruz A memorial service will be held in Santa Cruz for Frank Eberhard Miller, who passed away here on April 12th 2018. Born in Los Angeles, he was 88 years old. At age 3, he moved with his family to Watertown, New York, and later raised his own family in New Jersey. He moved back to California, and settled in Santa Cruz in 2002. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean war, and upon his discharge from the service, earned his degree in Architecture from Prat Institue, New York. Mr. Miller was instrumental in many of the designs of the casinos, hotels, and high rise condos in Atlantic City’s rebirth during the late 70’s and 80’s. He also designed colleges and large university buildings including the New Jersey Educational Association headquarters, and even several buildings in Puerto Rico, He was proud to be a self-employed and a sought after designer with a career that spanned 60 years. His hobbies included sailing and travel. Many fond memories will always be cherished of the family vacations back to New Jersey, visiting family, walking through casinos that he designed, and seeing the old neighborhood where he was raised. He will be missed by his church family of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he attended. He was a member of the the Rotary club, Salvation Army board, Habitat for Humanity, president of Santa Cruz Symphony League board, and a member Santa Cruz Historic Preservation Commission. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kate Louise Miller of Santa Cruz, his children: Colin B. Miller of Santa Cruz, Bruce R. Miller of Mountain View, CA, Althea Bernheim of New Jersey, and grandchildren Ezra, Zaphod, and Zeeke. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 5, 2018 at Trinity Presbyterian Church (420 Melrose Ave) in Santa Cruz beginning at One o'clock p.m. A private committal will take place at California Central Coast Veteran’s Cemetery in Seaside, CA. Any kind acts of charity can be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
