Franklin D. Snipes of Charlotte, NC, age 76, went to be with the Lord on October 23, 2017. He was born in Camden, SC in 1941 to the late Daniel and Dorothy Snipes. Franklin was a 21 year career officer in the U.S. Navy where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and received several Good Conduct Awards. He retired from The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office with 28 years of service in 2011. Franklin is survived by his wife, Donna Snipes; son, Nick (Sarah) Snipes; daughters, Dawn Bowen, Amy Cook; sisters, Jane (Richard) Wrenn, Linda (Donnie) Bogan; and his brother, Daniel (Susan) Snipes. In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his brother, James Snipes. Interment will be held at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC 28208, on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at Fairbluff Bible Chapel, 4650 Fairbluff Place, Charlotte, NC 28209 at 12:30 PM. The family will receive friends at the home of Donna Snipes, 2027 East Barden Road, Charlotte, NC 28226 following the service. Condolence cards may be sent to Donna Snipes (address above).
