Fred August Knipschild
March 19th, 1920 - July 4th, 2015
Fred Knipschild, 95, of Timnath, CO, formerly of Evans, CO passed away on July 4, 2015 at Pathways Hospice in Loveland, CO. He was born March 19, 1920 in Oxford, NE to Fred and Marika (DeVries) Knipschild. Fred grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 1938. He served in the Army from 1942 – 1945. On May 12, 1946 he married Wilma Hohner in Kensington, KS. They were married for 23 years. On May 10, 2008 in Greeley, CO Fred married Dorothy (Deeter) Hejtmanek. Fred was a concrete finisher. He called bingo at the Greeley Senior Center, Greeley Senior Housing, and Gray Cara West for many years. Fred volunteered many hours at Greeley Senior Housing and was a member of the VFW Post 2121. He enjoyed fishing trips with the family, cousin reunions, crafts and puzzles. He spent many Sundays playing Pinochle (cards) with family. He loved reading Western books and watching sports, especially wrestling. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Brush, CO; daughters, Sandi Mericle of Greeley, Marlene Nofziger of Timnath, Leonice Knipschild of Timnath; son, Rick (Debbie) Knipschild of Evans; grandchildren, Wendy (Kyle) Neaville, Tammy (Robby) Hernbloom, Sonja (Jamie) Day, Gene Mericle, Jim (Cindy) Knipschild, Jennifer (Matt) Fulmer; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Winnie Mussman of Arapahoe, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Steven Knipschild; and former wife, Wilma Krager. Fred’s family would like to send a special thank you to Pathways Hospice and Gray Cara West. Family and friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Adamson Chapel. A celebration of Fred’s life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to "Pathways Hospice” in care of Adamson Funeral & Cremation Services, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.
