Fred A. Lyijynen

November 30th, 1939 - August 25th, 2024

Fred Lyijynen, age 84, passed away on August 25, 2024, after a short illness. He was born on November 11th, 1939, and was raised in Detroit, graduating from Denby High School. He worked hand in life and received his degree from Purdue and a Master of Engineering from Arizona State University.

Fred and Barbara moved to Phoenix, AZ. in 1989. Fred worked for AT&T for 25 years and happily entered retirement at the age of 50. He then enjoyed playing golf 5 times a week. Fred was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings; tried to watch all the games.

Fred leaves behind his wife Barbara of 59 years, two children, Todd and Lisa and four grand-children Aari, Alex, Jordan and Ava. Fred also leaves behind a great-grandson, Sawyer, who was a beautiful light in his life. Fred is also survived by his two brothers, Jim and David. And numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred lived a great life with no regrets. He was very loved and will be greatly missed. He was the example of what every man should strive to be.
