Freddy Ortiz

Freddy Ortiz was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey in September of 1979 to Mrs. Irma West and Mr. Wilfredo Ortiz. He was raised in Burbank, California. His love of the military life began when at age fourteen he attended the Devil Pup Youth Program at Camp Pendleton, California with the United States Marine Corps. Freddy attended La Crescenta High School where he was active in the U.S. Air Force JROTC Program. He joined the United States Navy after High School Graduation in 1997. In 2005, while visiting his mother at work in Glendale, California, Freddy met the love of his life, Ms. Krystal Sichler. He also began to pursue a career in Law Enforcement by attending the Rancho Hondo California Police Academy. In September of 2010, Freddy Ortiz joined the United States Border Patrol as a member of the 948th Academy Session and was assigned to the Douglas Border Patrol Station. He and his beloved Krystal moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona that same year. In 2012, Freddy Ortiz was recalled to active-duty service with the U.S. Navy for a year in support of Operation New Dawn. During his Naval career Petty Officer First Class Freddy Ortiz was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and 2 Awards of the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. On November 14, 2023, Freddy Ortiz went to be with his Lord as a result of a vehicle accident in Douglas, Arizona. At the time of his death, Border Patrol Agent Freddy Ortiz was performing his sworn duties as a member of the United States Border Patrol. Border Patrol Agent, Petty Officer First Class, partner, son, and friend, Freddy Ortiz leaves to us a life of dedication, service, and sacrifice that exemplifies him as a National Hero of the United States. Freddy Ortiz is survived by his life partner Ms. Krystal Sichler of the home, his mother and Stepfather, Mr. Qwina and Mrs. Irma West of Bishop, California, Father, Mr. Wilfredo Ortiz of Jersey City, New Jersey, Stepfather Mr. Victor Guerrero of Prescott, Arizona, his sister Ms. Christine Ortiz of Summit, New Jersey and many loving family and friends abroad. Funeral Service for Mr. Freddy Ortiz will be conducted on November 21, 2023, at the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona. The Rosary Service will begin at 10:00 a.m., the Mass Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. to be followed by internment at the Southern Arizona Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 12 noon. The Reverend Fr. Robert Neske is the Celebrating Officiant.
