HOEDT, Frederick, 80, of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., entered into eternal rest at 9:00 a.m. on August 25, 2011 at Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills, Fla. Fred was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 28, 1931. He moved with family to Tampa in 1935. Fred attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Wilson Junior High, Memorial Junior High, MacFarlane Junior High and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1949. He worked for Crenshaw Produce Company, Gulf States Paper Company, was a weather-man in the United States Navy in Puerto Rico, a camera man and floor director in Tampa at television station WTVT, Channel 13. Fred also worked for Eckerd Drug Company in the camera department and as a drug clerk, Florida Land Surveying Service as chainman, rodman and assistant. Needing a retirement program, he joined the Lutz Post Office and later the Land O’ Lakes Post Office from which he retired in 1991. Fred became a U. S. Census Enumerator in 2000, a Pasco Elections inspector and a runner for nine precincts. Frederick was a U. S. Navy veteran. He had been a Boy Scout, DeMolay and a third generation Mason for over fifty years. Fred was a member of the Oak Grove Methodist Church and of the First United Methodist Church of Land O’ Lakes. He loved to go fishing. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marlene; three sons, Dusty and his wife, Leta, Del and his girlfriend, Jennifer, Randy and his wife, Angela; brother, William and his wife, Phyllis; sister, Florence King; four grandchildren, Cheryl Ann, Nikki, Megan and Sean and three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Logan and Nicholas, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Loyless Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening at Loyless Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Frederick’s memory to Shriners and Gulfside Regional Hospice.
