Frederick Lee Schmidt

December 10th, 1946 - January 27th, 2012

Frederick Lee Schmidt of Gilbert, AZ passed away in Gilbert, AZ on January 27, 2012 at the age of 65. Frederick was born on December 10, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Frank Edward and Opal Mae (Robinson) Schmidt. He was preceded into heaven by his son Jeffrey Glenn Schmidt who died in Wrangell ,Alaska in 2003 and brothers Phil Schmidt of Johnsburg, IL, and Tom Schmidt of Lakemoor, IL; along with sister-in-laws Carol Schmidt & Jackie Schmidt, and brother-in-law, Gary Ritter of FL. His long 45 year plumbing career included 36 years with UA Local #93 of Waukegan, IL and 9 years with UA Local #469 of Phoenix, AZ. Before moving to Arizona he successfully managed his own business, Fred Schmidt and Son Plumbing in McHenry, IL where he resided in West Shore Beach for 28 years with his family. He was a friend of Bill W and sober for 29 years. His charisma attracted many special friends and acquaintances with whom he golfed, fished and fellowshipped. He loved Connie, Christ, his children, coffee and camping outdoors. Frederick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Connie Schmidt, of Gilbert, AZ and two daughters, Stacey Garde and Darcey Barnett along with son-in-laws Greg Garde and Craig Barnett; four grandsons: Jeremy Garde, Jared Garde, Caleb Barnett, and Canaan Lee Barnett, and mother-in-law Lorraine Ritter of Chandler, AZ. Also his three brothers, Frank (Sue) Schmidt, Charles (Sue) Schmidt, Mike Schmidt, and sister-in-laws Barb Schmidt & Nancy (Tom) Dittmer as well as many cousins, nieces, aunts and uncles from Illinois, Indiana, California, Colorado, North Dakota, Arkansas, and UAE. A Visitation will be held at 3:30 PM, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Life Church East Valley, 459 N. Gilbert Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85234. Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 PM, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Life Church East Valley with Tom Carlini officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Falconer Funeral Home.
