Gail Finn McConnell (Gail Renee Finn), 70, of Indian Harbour Beach, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 20, 2020. She is survived by her husband of forty-two (42!) years, Captain James Joseph (Joe) McConnell; her daughter Kathleen Finn McConnell (husband Stephen Costello); her daughter Christine Finn McConnell Damm (husband Justin Damm), and four grandchildren, Erin Finn Damm, Seamus Finn Damm, Cara Finn Damm and Patrick Finn Damm. She is also survived by her three sisters, Keiren Budds, Marilyn Westerberg (James), Cheryl Rybarczyk (Richard), and a large loving extended family. Gail was born and raised in Chicago, where she acquired her R.N. via a diploma program, and later her Bachelors and Masters in Nursing. Shortly after earning her R.N., she moved to Hawaii, where she met Joe and they had their daughters. She always said being a mother was her favorite part of her life. Gail worked for over 30 years in the field of nursing. One of her favorite things about nursing was that there were so many different avenues she was able to participate in. She particularly enjoyed labor and delivery, and had a great time teaching nursing. She ended her career as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Unsurprisingly, her patients loved her. In her retirement she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. As much as she enjoyed being a mother, it could be said she enjoyed being a grandmother even more. All of her grandchildren adore her. She was actively involved with her church and regularly volunteered in various ways, including at the gift shop. She particularly enjoyed being a reader for mass. Her storytelling skills were excellent and her laugh fantastic. She was always good for a snuggle. She meant a lot to many people during her life. Her family loves her and cherishes every memory. She is and forever will be deeply missed. Due to the pandemic, Gail did not wish for services to be held at this time. Instead, a service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in March 2021. Attendees must arrive by 9 am on Thursday, March 25, with the service to begin at 10. At this time masks are required by the cemetery and there is a limit as to how many people may attend. Please email [email protected] AND [email protected] if you are interested in participating. If there are changes in the rules between now and the time of the service, we will post them here. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Mayo Clinic, who were amazing in their care of Gail over the past several years at https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donateMC or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
